Things I Liked 10 Years Ago But Don’t Like Now #001: RIAA Album Certifications
The number of arguments I had with people in high school telling them why their band sucked because they weren’t a Platinum/Gold selling artist is absolutely shameful. The wake up call came when I purchased Deftones’ “White Pony” and kept looking at the weekly Billboard RIAA certifications assuming “this was going to be the week the album gets its much-deserved Gold certification!” [As PRE-DURST noted, to my shock as well, the album achieved its Platinum certification in April 2002]
